... which is funny. And also dirt cheap. Especially if you are lucky enough to live in a city like Stockholm. Water, there are finally enough of that. Not for nothing Stockholm the "Venice of the North" is mentioned. With the Stockholm in itself rather Venice "Stockholm of the South" as would indicate. What I'm getting at? From my quiet home environment I only need about half an hour to the terminals of the major cruise companies Viking Line and Tallink Silja. These two lines have the very pleasant and student-friendly habit of their services for a ridiculously low price offer for sale.
So I was very pleased when I was asked whether I want to spontaneously participate in a cruise in the direction of Turku (Finland) would. I would do. And both want to do as I did. And now we are back to a peculiarity of Sweden. For my part, yes usually like to leave for a trip to a destination, true to the old pattern: outward -> goal -> return. Not so with Sweden. Hand you the weird combination: Depart -> return. Where is the objective? As the saying goes: "The journey is the destination". In Germany one would call such a trip "Butterfahrt" where I found shelter on the Swedish version is not a single piece of butter. The Swede in itself - regardless of age - namely uses this ride is not for the supply of goods made from sour cream to butter, but rather to the tax-free liquor store purchase thoroughly empty. With the usual drinks prices in Sweden may be understandable, by German standards but still plenty expensive. Also interesting for residents of countries with less rigorous fiscal policy, however, the ship's theater show, know to talk skillfully in which both a musical show as well as two live bands the audience. To say nothing of the homelike atmosphere that is achieved by a noble variety leaning against furniture. Alone that was the Converted 10 € for travel including overnight in the luxurious cabin with flat-screen TV worth.

This time It was not a pensioner-Cognac-ride, but one in collaboration with the University organized the "International Student Cruise" with students from Stockholm, Copenhagen, Karlstad and some other Scandinavian universities. As usual at such events, unfortunately, the 1100 passengers were almost exclusively exchange students, which ensured that once again proved their dominance of the English language. Too bad. Here I was able to discover why the whole thing was so cheap. Had you guessed that under the two car decks are still a deck? I'm assuming that you just replaced only the benches to bed like structures, because of luxury or Clean nothing could be felt. Honestly, my expectations were not so high, but THAT was really silly. At least the toilet you would wipe at least, if you have not brushed properly. At least the bed was more comfortable than my dorm bed, but this means only that poked me in those 2 nights, no metal springs in the back. Interestingly, however, the fact that I see with the door closed on the course, or at least could see the light from the hallway because the door had been up and down so bent that they are only next to the castle at all contact with the door frame.
Nevertheless, Riga is definitely worth a visit. The city is - at least in the inner city - dominated by magnificent art nouveau buildings on one side and the medieval old town on the other side. The tourist season, however, was apparently over, so that the city was virtually deserted until 1100, feverish students with more edges of the eyes. My heart was allowed to enjoy life but then enjoy the old tavern to Bernsteinweg of local delicacies and a large jug of amber-stout. Excellent compensation for nocturnal sleep disturbance by in the hall bawling English and French. Thus, a bent door has unfortunately not overly good sound insulation.
Since I'm in culinary delights ... not only in the capital of Latvia, also in Swedish student residence halls sometimes magical is served. So I had the good fortune to have been invited to dinner at a Hungarian fellow students. And my goodness, the man can cook! The bean soup family recipe, served with the Hungarian version of a pork, in any case is clearly the best that could enjoy during my time here in Stockholm my palate. And the self-made plum brandy, this is apparently such a meal knew to convince.
When I got this culinary Experience and a subsequent meeting with a Münster fellow student from Lund returned to my dorm, I was expecting a further surprise in the shape of my Turkish hall comrades

Still a bit of Swedish daily complacent? In my last entry I promised so driven by my youthful levity, this time to describe the appearance of young fashion floor beams gutters. Indeed, sometimes this is not a joy. Clothing Fair, the trend is too narrow and short. And yes, the corpulence it does not seem to matter.
